Kind words from students

  • "He’s helped me work through my performance anxiety and rediscover the joy of playing."

I’ve been taking online jazz clarinet lessons with Adam, and it’s been such a positive experience. After years away from the instrument due to stage fright, I wanted to return to playing clarinet as a hobby. Adam is not only a brilliant jazz clarinet teacher but also incredibly supportive – he’s helped me work through my performance anxiety and rediscover the joy of playing. His deep knowledge of jazz clarinet gives him a rare ability to explain concepts clearly and adapt lessons to my needs.

Meet Adam Price – your online clarinet teacher

Adam Price is a professional clarinetist, saxophonist, and flautist with a Bachelor’s degree in Clarinet Performance from NYU.

His real education, though, came on the road – touring, jamming, and being thrown into musical situations that demanded quick learning and adaptability. Along the way, he mastered his doubles (saxes, clarinets, flutes), learned to improvise across genres, and developed the skill to sight-read complex charts under pressure.

Music has taken Adam across the world – from jazz clubs in Hong Kong and bars in Brazil to cruise ships, music festivals, and intimate venues across the US and around the world.

These experiences now shape the way he teaches – helping students of all levels – beginners, university students, or returning adult players – build confidence, find their sound and experience the joy of playing.

Kind words from students

  • "I truly consider him one of my biggest mentors and inspiration sources with the clarinet."

I have been working with Adam since I was 13 years old. Now, I am about to graduate college as a music education major and I couldn’t have done it without Adam. I truly consider him one of my biggest mentors and inspiration sources with the clarinet. He not only taught me more about playing the clarinet and being a musician than I ever thought I could know, but taught me about being a good person and teacher. Adam has such a fun and different approach to teaching than other clarinet teachers and it really resonated well with how I learn. His continued support and help over the years has changed me as a musician, and I would, and do, recommend him to every clarinetist I can get to listen.

In our online clarinet lessons, we’ll focus on the skills and confidence you need to play well and actually enjoy it.

No matter where you’re starting from – learning your first scale or getting ready for a gig – it’s easier with someone to guide you.

  • Clarinet fundamentals: tone, technique, and control

We’ll focus on building a reliable, flexible sound and solid technique so the clarinet feels comfortable and responsive. Good fundamentals make everything else easier and more enjoyable to play.

  • Sight reading, scales, and articulation

You’ll learn how to read music more confidently, move through scales with ease, and articulate clearly. These skills help you feel prepared whether you’re practicing at home or playing with others.

  • Improvisation, jamming, and finding your own style

If you’re curious about jazz or playing more freely, we’ll work on improvisation in a way that makes sense. You’ll learn how to listen, react, and play with other musicians without overthinking.

  • Managing performance anxiety and building stage confidence

Nerves are normal. We’ll talk through practical ways to prepare, manage anxiety, and feel more comfortable performing – whether that’s in front of an audience or just for yourself.

  • Preparing for exams, auditions, gigs, or recordings

From school exams to auditions or paid gigs, we’ll focus on what you actually need to be ready. That includes repertoire, pacing, and knowing how to show up feeling confident and prepared.

  • Building a practice routine that fits your life

Practice doesn’t have to be a drag. Together, we’ll create a routine that works with your schedule and helps you make steady progress in a way that’s fun and enjoyable.

Kind words from students

  • "Adam taught me how beautiful the clarinet was in such a positive down-to-earth manner which was truly inspiring."

If there has been one clarinet teacher that has had a profound impact on me as a player, that teacher is Adam Price. From middle school and throughout high school I had the honor of every summer working with Adam and it was truly an unforgettable experience. Adam taught me how beautiful the clarinet was in such a positive “down-to-earth” manner which was truly inspiring. I was able to improve my clarinet playing and be accepted into music schools because of his work. I am now onto my master's degree still playing because of all of his continued motivation and support. Lessons with Adam Price are truly a must-have experience!

Still not sure if this is right for you? No problem. Send me an email and let’s talk anyway. If I am not a good fit for you, no harm no foul. And perhaps I can offer you some different resources that could help. I want to help you (or your child) achieve your musical goals, whether you want to study with me or not. I am admittedly a terrible salesperson, so I’m not going to pressure you, up-sell you, or guilt you into studying with me. That’s not my intention. Frequently asked questions

  • Yes. Online clarinet lessons work really well, especially with one-on-one teaching. With a good camera setup, clear audio, and live feedback, I can hear and see exactly what’s going on in your playing and guide you in real time. Many students find online lessons more flexible and focused than in-person lessons.

  • Absolutely. Many of my students are adults who are returning to the clarinet after years away or starting for the first time. Adults often progress quickly because they’re motivated, curious, and know what they want from lessons. There’s no “right age” to learn – just the right attitude.

  • Like any instrument, clarinet has its challenges, especially early on with tone and finger coordination. With clear guidance and good habits from the start, it becomes much more manageable. The key is consistent practice and having a teacher help you avoid common frustrations.

  • Classical clarinet focuses on written music, tone consistency, and precision. Jazz clarinet places more emphasis on feel, rhythm, improvisation, and listening. The fundamentals overlap, and many classically trained players transition easily into jazz.

  • Saxophone can feel more immediate at first, especially for producing sound, while clarinet takes a bit more patience early on. Clarinet builds strong technique and versatility, which can actually make learning saxophone easier – especially if you plan to play both.
